Michael "Michelito" Herrera
in New Orleans!
Special Guest Workshops in Afro-Cuban Orisha Drum and Dance

A native of Havana, Cuba, Herrera is a master percussionist, master dancer, and a Babalao (high priest of Lukumi). He has been deeply immersed in Cuban folkloric music, dance, and performance since he was six years old. He has shared stages around the globe with some of Cuba's and Latin America's most prominent musicians and artists, including Chucho Valdes, Juan Formell & Los Van Van, Oscar de Leon, Calle 13, and Juanes, to name a few. He is also the former Musical Director of the world-acclaimed Cuban folkloric dance group Yoruba Andabo.
For an in-depth learning experience, the workshops will feature Herrera teaching students the songs and drum rhythms of the Orisha, as well as teaching the dances of the Orisha paired with those songs and rhythms.
